Abstract

The model of PGE product generation development describes a product that has no direct previous generation as so-called product generation 1 [G1]. Development in such a G1 environment poses special challenges that affect the development process: G1 development with a shortening of the time-to-market paired with a high pressure to innovate usually takes place without much expe-rience knowledge. As a result. an increased number of technical changes. known as variations in the PGE model. is observed at a late stage of develop-ment. This is accompanied by the question of what testing activities are neces-sary to verify or validate [V&V] these variations. The focus of the paper lies on the analysis of the G1 challenges. The general procedure of the systematic that links the variations with the possible V&V activities is presented.
